The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of Karen L. Wyndham, age 45, of Cottageville, SC on a charge of Tampering With Consumer Products.  Wyndham was charged in a complaint filed today with placing D-Con rat pellets in packages of meat that were for sale on April 4, 2007 at the Super K-Mart store located at 8751 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC.  At the time of the incident Wyndham was employed at this Super K-Mart store.
         
Wyndham appeared today before a United States Magistrate Judge in Charleston, SC and was released on personal recognizance bond.  Prosecution of this matter is being handled by the United States Attorney's Office, District of South Carolina.  This matter was investigated by the FBI, North Charleston Police Department, SLED, and DHEC.

A complaint is merely an accusation that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
