Conway Woman Charged With Fraud

Columbia, SC—United States Attorney W. Walter Wilkins stated that Bonnie Jean Aton, age 42, of Conway, South Carolina, was charged in a federal Indictment with wire fraud.  Authorities allege that Aton sent counterfeit money orders to Texas and Massachusetts to pay for purchases she made from the internet.

The maximum penalty Aton could receive is a fine of $250,000.00 and imprisonment for 20 years.

Mr. Wilkins stated that the case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and that he has assigned the case to Assistant United States Attorney William E. Day, II, of the Florence office for prosecution.

The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this Indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
