COLUMBIA FELON PLEADS GUILTY IN GUN CASE

Columbia, South Carolina ---- United States Attorney W. WALTER WILKINS stated today that Darrell Robinson, age 39, of Columbia, South Carolina, pled guilty today in federal court in Columbia, to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Robinson, whose case was scheduled for trial today, decided to plead guilty after pre-trial proceedings. United States District Judge Joseph F. Anderson, Jr. of Columbia accepted the plea and will impose sentence after he has reviewed the presentence report which will be prepared by the U.S. Probation Office.

Evidence presented at the plea hearing established that Robinson, a convicted felon, sold a .38 caliber revolver and ammunition to an undercover informant at the Gonzalez Garden Apartments on January 24, 2005.

Mr. Wilkins stated the maximum penalty Robinson can receive is a fine of $250,000 and imprisonment for 10 years.

The case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Columbia Gang Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Marshall Prince of the Columbia office handled the case.
