DRUG-DEALING PAGELAND MEN GOING TO FEDERAL PRISON COLUMBIA, South Carolina ----- Acting United States Attorney Kevin F. McDonald stated today that Scottie Ray Edgeworth, age 29, Frederick Lamont Smith, age 28, Terry Therill Spears, age 30, and Alvin Louis Edgeworth, age 25, all of Pageland, South Carolina, were sentenced by United States District Judge Terry L. Wooten for conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. Scottie Edgeworth was sentenced to 240 months imprisonment, Smith to 220 months imprisonment, Spears to 110 months imprisonment, and Alvin Edgeworth to 60 months imprisonment. Information presented at their guilty plea hearings established that the four men were all part of a group responsible for the distribution of multiple kilograms of crack in Chesterfield County since 1992. Confidential informants working for the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office made numerous controlled purchases of crack cocaine from each of these defendants during 2004 and 2005. The case was investigated by the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney A. Bradley Parham of the Florence office.
