KINGSTREE MAN GETS 122 MONTHS FOR DRUGS

Columbia, South Carolina ---- Acting United States Attorney Kevin F. McDonald stated that Demetrie A. York, age 21, of Kingstree, South Carolina, was sentenced in federal court for conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine. United States District Judge Terry L. Wooten sentenced York to 122 months in federal prison without the possibility of parole.

York was part of a large drug ring responsible for the distribution of crack and cocaine in the Williamsburg County area since 2004. On two occasions in August of 2005, York sold crack to a confidential informant wearing a wire.

The case was investigated by SLED, the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney A. Bradley Parham of the Florence office.
