KINGSTREE DRUG DEALER GUILTY IN FEDERAL CASE

Columbia, South Carolina---- United States Attorney Reginald I. Lloyd stated that Billy Leroy Pendergrass, age 35, of Kingstree, South Carolina, pled guilty today in federal court in Florence, to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. United States District Judge Terry L. Wooten accepted the plea and will impose sentence at a later date.

Testimony presented at his guilty plea hearing established that in September 2004, a search warrant was executed at Pendergrass’ residence. Agents recovered more than 33 grams of crack, a loaded pistol, cash, scales, and other paraphernalia consistent with the distribution of crack.

Pendergrass faces a maximum possible sentence of 40 years in federal prison.

The case was investigated by the Williamsburg and Florence County Sheriff’s Offices, SLED, and the FBI. Assistant United States Attorney A. Bradley Parham of the Florence office is prosecuting the case.
